Computational Confusions

Terribly sorry for the lack of bloggage lately, there's been all sorts of interesting laptop problems. The good blokey is kindly destroying Vista from my Gateway, and rebuilding all the programming from scratch, basing it on XPProfessional. With a bit of luck, it might be working properly in the next couple of weeks - Vista has somehow vanished all the drivers for anything useful, including the one for wireless access - that was fun to repair... Winos Vista - they musta been pissed. (Thanks to Him for sketch)

Last week was busy, on Sunday I went to get the train home as usual, only to discover it had been routed onto a bus line, an hour beforehand. So fortunately, I was able to get a lift back to His, stayed the night and booked a taxi for 5am, so I could get to work on time. By the time 5 came round, and I was dressed, I ended up in a heap on the stairs, had to be picked up and put back to bed. I know I have a good bloke - he didn't mind too much when I nearly threw up on him. Thank you.

Wednesday I was back home and at work, spent two and a half hours cleaning an oven I have only used, what, 3 times in the 6 months I've lived there and cleaned the floors, only to find it wasn't my turn to clean the kitchen, and had to go clean the bathroom on Thursday night as well. Hmm. But at least I got to go to the cinema with work on Thursday. If you go to see P.S, I Love You, watch out for the boom - it's in nearly every serious shot, and made me laugh very much! (Image from IMDB.com) Burgerking for dinner with the rest of the banking crew, and laughing at the other cashiers sniffing and sobbing. Soft lot, no contest for us Northern folk!

Bath bombs! I have introduced Him to the fun of Lush Bath Bombs - last week was a Ylang ylang, cocoa butter and vanilla one - this week was a champagne party bomb, full of brightly coloured confetti. Was finding bits for hours...

Snazzy Suits and Brilliant Bowling - WTG!

Oh dear. I thought I'd written this blog... Turns out I dreamt I wrote it. Oh dear. (Much much laughter from Him.)

Hokay.
Well, Friday Night.
Bowling! In stunner outfits.
Call upon one binbag ballgown and Storm coat - and then for Himself to up the ante with a rather sharp black suit and shirt with a simple blood red tie. So a pair of vampires hit the town. And rather spoilt the effect by grinning all night at all the compliments... (Picture by Himself.)

Must have been a good look though, as on the last set, He pulled off a triple strike! 30 points, in one go. Niiiiiiice! I still completely suck - I got 56. Oh well.

Saturday was a leisurely stroll through the town centre, and treated to a deliciously, freshly hand made lunch in a restaurant. Picked up Tom Holt's "Barking" (review in the future, image: http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/h/tom-holt/barking.htm), several tasties from Thorntons (He very much trusts my judgement, I have good taste.) so thanks Mum for the voucher, and two new CDs (Marilyn Manson and Gorillaz).

Tom, you are an angel. Tom owns a cafe called Mocha. Tom also knows Him very well (and takes the mickey), and does the most delicious hot chocolate. With little spiced biscuity things!

Movie review of the week: Golden Ninja Warrior. Oh. Dear. Gods. It's everything you could hope to see in a truly appalling Ninja movie. You start off thinking the guys in red are the bad guys, but the good guys randomly wear red suits too, and the bad guys randomly wear black suits... And the plot. What plot? It was far more fun making up new lines for the actors. One of them only communicated in sneers anyway.

Homeward Bound and All Around!

In response to an earlier mention to myself, I have said on several occasions, I often don't know where some of the images used on this blog have come from, and I am happy to quote sources if someone has found it. For those I do know of, I will/have source/d them. I respect challenges to copyright and ownership of images on my blog.

Anyway, enough of the toodoodlement jargon, time for a catchup. (I am at this moment being an ubernerd, sat beside Him on my laptop; He's on His.)

Friday, I got the first of my day's holidays. Spent most of it on the train. Woo!
Wound my leisurely way back Oop Narf home, for my darling Nan's 50th Wedding Anniversary! ('Gratz to you both.) Spent most of the evening with my somethingsomethingdistantlyrelated cousin Vicki trying to kick either grandparent out of the bloomin' hall kitchens and make them go back out to their party. Bless em. Good food though.

Hopping back out of the car, it was so cold and so wet, both of my feet went into spasm and all the muscles simultaneously locked up, leaving me stranded in the porch quite literally unable to move. Between the gasps of agony and whimpers of owie, it was very funny. Managed to get the phone so that He could sympathetically (????) laugh at me. Hmmmm.

Saturday - I slept. A lot. And ate chocolate for breakfast. Last night's leftovers for lunch. And dinner. And supper... And breakfast again the next day. However, I did spend most of the day in town, buying myself a rather pretty singing bowl. And then most of the evening playing very, very bad pool. Yay! In fact, I lost at a game of Worsts. (Where you have to play deliberately badly, but not overly obviously.)
Sunday - Spent the day with various family members, my grandfather proudly showing off his handmade tin trains, my grandmother delighted with her Christmas present, the cats just happy to chew me, and singing to my mother's chicken gravy again.

The Christmas lights are as retarded as they were last year, and Himself got uh, treated to the sound via phonecall, including my mother beating the soundbox against the floor to make it go past the first three bars. He's now making an odd noise describing the intriguingly pathetic decline of quality. And because it's not often I get home, my birthday was thrown into the mix - another family oddity He was treated to. Let me explain: my mother's side of the family have their own... unique variant on the Happy Birthday Song. Simply put, everyone starts when they feel like, sings to whatever tune they feel like, and as badly as they like. The overall effect is horrendous, but supremely good fun. I could hear Him falling about laughing on the other end of the line. Seems to take most things in His stride - well done!

Catch you in a bit, I've just been presented with toast... MMMMmmm

Beginning of a New Year (2)

The New Year: Part 2

New year came in with a resounding bang, fireworks of all colours lighting up the dark, cold sky.

I also discovered I rather like Baileys - having got to a point of severe dislike for Dooleys, and various other milk/cream based drinks, I wasn't sure about it, but it's pretty good. Actually, it's really rather delicious when combined with milk, and Maltesers, very rich. And Bacardi Berries is rather nice, sweet and light; a bit TOO drinkable perhaps.

(And by popular demand, a photo of He.)

Oh, and thanks Nige for the LANers guide, the spare powerstrip was a genius idea.! Didn't get used mind, but got geekpoints for it! I also managed to work out how to sort of use a game enough to keep up with the crowd whilst He nipped out to a mates car. (Unloading of yet more PCs) House looked like a spaghetti factory explosion - think I must have been the only one on wireless - but then wireless isn't good for gaming it turns out. Hardwired is faster and less likely to "break". The LAN party was a resounding success, but He was a little distracted trying to keep up with all the gamers, and the game, and me at the same time...!

So we all watched Futurama for a bit and then ... the name of the movie slips me... Ah! The Garfield Movie.

Jan 1st, all but the most hardcore gamer slept late (LC not emerging 'til well after lunch I believe) whereupon we had pizza! Yay for pizza! I like pizza! And watched Happy Feet. I know, I know. But it had penguins. And some un-Disneyish breaking up of the mushy scenes, which amused me no end, such as the mummy penguin vomiting up a "nice treat" for the baby one.A grand start to the year, no technical/electrical or otherwise disasters as of yet (besides a minor crash - bloomin' VISTA. Grr.) and the train appears to be running on time. Or so the sign at the station says. We shall see.

And knock me sideways with a bright pink kiwibird feather - the train was actually EARLY! So far, so good...

Anyway, enough for now!
