Dreadful Downpour

We got wet. Really wet. On Thursday, it was raining. Lots. According to forecasters, something like 11.8mm of water fell on the Yeovil Station, and the Sunshine Festival (oh beautiful irony) had to be called off. On the way home from work, we were coming past the Bell Inn when we discovered the road to be a foot high in water; The Boss was quite worried, as his little SmartCar nearly didn't make it through. I don't think the drains round here are built to take that much rainfall in one go, as the manholes were mostly blown out - the ones stubborn enough to stay put were gushing up fair sized geysers from the lifting holes...! Even the shop at the end of the road was having its problems, as the water quickly flooded their small garden, came up against the wall and sluiced over like a waterfall. So yes, it was wet. And His Lordship was too, having been waiting for the bus home.
